Muslim Hero In Paris Kosher Market Attack Given Medal By Simon Wiesenthal Center

Los Angeles, CA – The Simon Wiesenthal Center honored the Muslim shop assistant who hid Jewish shoppers at the kosher market in Paris during a hostage crisis in January, reports Mynewsla.com Lassana Bathily, a Malian-born Muslim shop assistant, was honored with the Medal of Valor at the center’s annual National Tribute Dinner at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. He is one of two living recipients of the Medal of Valor. The other living recipient, Kevin Vickers, is Canada’s ambassador to Ireland. As sergeant at arms of Canada’s House of Commons, he shot and killed a gunman who killed a guard at the Canadian National War Memorial. The Simon Wiesenthal Center is an international Jewish human rights organization that fights anti-Semitism worldwide. Filmmaker Harvey Weinstein received the center’s highest award – the Humanitarian Award – for supporting the center and its Museum of Tolerance.
